    Radiator fan mount

    Hi,
I just called ffv to ask if I was missing a radiator fan shroud and they said that it doesn’t come with the kit. They also said it wasn’t necessary. I know, that can be debated. The fan itself has a shroud built in, all be it that it will not draw from the entire radiator.

My question is... if I don’t use a shroud how do I mount the fan? Do I just make a mount that goes from the top of the radiator to the bottom?

    Thanks

Your kit should come with some fan mounting brackets. I used the shroud from Breeze Automotive, however.

The fan mounting brackets appear to be to mount it to a mustang shroud.

Take a look at the manual. In my version (3Y), it's on page 208. (I only know that because I have the manual open while I'm doing this...) It shows how to mount the fan to the radiator using the brackets provided. I, too, used the Breeze shroud.

For what it's worth, the provided fan mount is less than elegant. Check out the shroud that Breeze sells. It makes the install so much cleaner. It's on sale right now, too!

Mark's Stuff Works So Yet Another Vote For Breeze!
Get the shroud and his mounting system.
Also consider his seat mounts too.
    You won't be disappointed.

About half a dozen other breeze must haves while you are at it.
Front battery mount, offset steering rack bushings, lower rad support.
    I’m sure there are more.
I got my cooling tubes, same as boig now sells, from breeze too.

I can’t recommend the Breeze shroud enough. I’d also strongly suggest the Breeze upper and lower mounts and hoses. Everything is excellent quality and gets the job done.

Mark at Breeze has excellent products. You can’t go wrong with them, maybe blow your budget though.

If you have access to a sheet metal brake, and to a metal supply house, you can build your own. I agree that Marks stuff is great, but you can build your own for a fraction of the price. Make a cardboard template, then bend the aluminum to match. I flanged the shroud's top and bottom edges to mate to the radiator support frame and fastened the shroud there. The fan then just bolts to the shroud. Although the shroud is not the subject of these photos, you can see it, and how I fastened it to the frame. Takes a bit of time, but not too tough to do!IMG_20160111_161447460_HDR.jpg IMG_20160111_161421335_HDR.jpg
