    Waterproof connectors

I just ordered a set of these to try out. It bonds the wires using a low temp solder and seals them with a hot melt adhesive. Push the wires in and heat it with a heat gun...

I would be careful using these conn's in critical locations. I've heard they are difficult to align properly and as such may not have the strength required. I think as a quick fix or emergency they would be perfect.

I have used water proof connectors with and without the solder with no problems so far except ...

On very high gauge wire (like on the instruments for example) I have had trouble where the "glue" or insulation material that melts in connectors (without solder) would actually reduce the conductivity of the connection. This seemed to occur on the female and male spade connectors.

It may have been the brand but it was a pain to initially find the problem.

Overall I do think it is a much better connector to use.
