Nifty Rev-Limiter From MSD For You Guys Running HEI's

Hey Y'all,

I know there are a few of you running GM Style HEI distributors, even on your Ford powered cars.
With that tidbit out of the way I installed this rev limiter on my car and so far it works like a charm.

It could also be of use in the unlikely event that you let somebody who is less than skilled drive your car.

I think the rev limiter needed to engage the parking brake to prevent that one!!

Okay guys, I'm really impressed with this thing.

When you turn the ignition key on the Rev-Limiter displays your last highest RPM. In my case it was 4,499 because the limiter was set at 4,500. I waited a little while for the highest RPM display to go away and turned one of the knobs down and it displayed the desired RPM based on the dial values. I decided to I lower the gadget to 4,000 and took the car for a spin and it once again worked flawlessly.

Anyway, if you are running an HEI with no Rev-Limiter, then consider buying this one if you feel the need to keep the RPM's under control.

Mine's built-in to my MSD distributor- you press a button on the dash (you wire this in-line with the tach signal) and at one-half of the desired rev-limit (say 3000 rpm) you press the button for a second. The tach then reports back the set limit of 6000 rpm. And each time you turn on the ignition the tach reports back the set rev-limit.

It's useful if you like doing burnouts in the waterbox at the dragstrip or wherever. Also if you valet/loan your car to a friend.

It will not prevent an over-rev on a bad downshift.

Cool because you can set the limiter from the driver-seat and whenever.

I set the limiter at 4,000 so that we can properly let the engine wear in.
We set it this low also keeps me from being overly stupid.
Again, if you have an HEI, consider buying this part.
