    Door top finishing/fitment/shape

When I get my body lines lined up, the foot tops are slightly low. They also aren't not quite the right shape. Kinda valleyd in the middle, if that makes sense. How did you guys finish/fill/shape your door tops? Are the level with the body at front and rear or slightly lower to help clear the hard top?

I didn't quite understand your explanation (a pic might be a good idea) but if the door sills aren't the right shape, there may be flex in the body. Did you setup the body on the frame with the right cockpit dimension per page 359 of the manual?

I found the top of the doors to have varying thickness of glass. That made the whole structural area weak and wavy. We rebuilt it adding glass mores than filler. At the end of the day, building the area up caused problems fitting the weather striping.

wrp posted pics of exactly what I'm having trouble with. I may also post some Monday. The top, where the window slot will.be cut. I'm afraid if I sand the edges down to the middles height, there won't be squat left. I may need to add glass like wrp did.

Thank wrp. The pics with the added glass along the window slot is exactly where one door has issues. The other is right down the center. I may add glass like you did. Then I may built the window track insert that (I forgot who designed and sent out the drawings for) did with aluminum. Thatll alleviate the door tops too thick issue and maybe I'll end up with something stronger which is good cause ffr design just seems like it will be flimsy.

Biggest advice I can give is that if you mod the top, have your window whiskers at hand, that way you can fit them while everything is still a mees

OK Thanks! But I really do think Im going to build the door "cartridge" that slides in from the top. I forget who here did it. But it looks like I'm make things quite a bit better. Did yiu install your windows per ffr instructions?

Its a great idea, but build it before you finish the prep for paint

Absolutely. I'm doing everything except charge the ac and install final brakes before I take it apart for paint. I may not bother gluing the back glass in either lol.

I think the design you're looking for was done by Tim Collins. Here is a link to a thread on the other forum: https://www.ffcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5592737 Send him a PM with your email address and he will send you drawings and/or CAD files.

Yes, Tim's is exactly whose I was taking about. Just couldn't remember his name! I already have the drawings courtesy of him. That's a stand up guy there, to share his innovation with everyone. Many folks here are.
