I replaced them with 1/8" aluminum sheet from an old roadsign.

I thought about the aluminum, I was afraid I might bend it, but then again I could break the plywood; however, I did choose a wood that is less brittle. We’ll have to compare after a few thousand miles and a few more pounds.
