    How many 289’s?

I was wondering if anyone out there knows how many FFR 289 FIA/USRRC roadsters have been produced?
    Just wondering.

When I picked up mine about three years ago I got the impression from Dave that it was about twenty. Since then I know of five others; you, me, Pete in Ohio, Joel and Eddie in CA. I think there are two others that have changed hands or are changing hands during the build. Maybe some more quietly building.

I’m happy that thet’re Some what rare, they spark more conversations. I’ve always been a small block guy. When I had my 67’ Shelby GT500, back in 1974, I pulled out the 428 and put in a hipo 289 that I built. Never regretted it.

That was one of the reasons I went with the 289. I've always taken a slightly different path.

GT500 was always on my list! Never could quite get the money together, the prices were already going up sharply by the time I was driving.

I dont know how many there are but the FFR 289’s are rare in California. In northern california i just know of me and Joel. Ive been going to many car shows and havent seen any in norcal orReno NV. At the 2017 Huntington Beach Cruise In there were 2; the first “black mamba” one and ehanson007’s. At the 2018 Cruise In there werent any 289{s.

Not sure mine counts here in Northern Calif. I ended up ordering my kit not quite a year before FFR decided to offer their kit. Perfect timing on my part, I'd probably be done by now if I had waited, and started a year later! But since I wanted an FIA, I ordered a base kit "naked", no body, and ordered a Mr. Bruce's 289FIA body just as Bill (2Fast4U) did. His makes mine look like Mrs. Morgan's fifth grade class built it in comparison to Bill's, but everybody's got a different skill set. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I plan on dropping the engine in this weekend, so after just over six years I'll feel like I'm making progress! I hope to meet up with some of the other 289's once, or if, I ever get this finished.

    Joel,
I went to see the car the other day on the way home from work (the extra long way home). I didn’t ask who owns/built it.

I would guess that it is similar, but remember the resale values will vary wildly depending on options, build quality, location, etc. Buy the car because you love it and build it the way you want it. Don't expect to get rich on resale, if you break even, that's pretty good.
