Probably my favorite paint job yet on one of these trucks. I'm planning on something similar.

Ive used multiple techniques but the most effective is using a pack of yellow costco microfiber towels to wipe off the paint.....once they get completely covered in smeared paint I get a new one. I sprayed multiple colors, one on top of another wet then gave it about 30 min, then had a Tupperware of acetone and dipped the towel and begin to rub. Another technique was to spray thick and then immediately roughly wipe the wet paint with a soaked towel in acetone. I used Paint thinner also, which is not as strong as the acetone which is good in some areas where you want to make sure not to take off too much paint. Also there is some strategy in which paints to layer over another, the brown looks the best on top of the white, then rub through the brown to expose the white and it looks more realistic. Honestly the photos I posted are a 3rd attempt on each panel and I am sure I will continue to patina each panel for the next few weeks. Ive also just got some 2k Matte clear coat which will seal up the look when I'm satisfied with the look. The great thing is that I'm less than $200 in on the paint and I absolutely love it!.......but after the first few coats of paint that first night I felt terrible, I hated it, and I began to regret the idea of a spray painted car.....but once i broke out the rag and the acetone the patina came alive.

I haven't even attempted, I am not sure I will even try, but because I will be driving this car every day and not want to detail it every weekend.....I may be changing my tune on the side engine covers in a few months and want to install them.....but I really like the look of an exposed engine, kind of a rat rod / restomod look

Your truck is coming out great. Keep it up. I am looking forward to seeing it done. I am sure I will have a few questions for you when I start mine.

    Speakers and sun visor.

Decided to go with the Morel speakers and tweeters. These door speakers are only .5” deep!!!! And yes it sounds amazing in that little cab.

I also got to finally install my sun visor that I purchased from Jonathan Ward’s famous company ICON. If you haven’t seen his work just YouTube icon. They are made the same as a leer jets sunvisors.

By the way I can’t fit the passenger one in place because of my radar detector so if anyone wants to buy my extra one please let me know. They were quite expensive as a pair.

Wood bed, wood sides, ladder rack

Finally finished the wood bed, wood sides, and the removable ladder rack that also collapses so it can store in the bed. I currently have a TruXedo low pro bed cover on order so I can store tools in the back.

I also got around to getting my company name on the truck. Here is a before and after on the patina

You’ve built a unique and (IMHO...) stunningly cool hot rod!

    Beautiful truck! Congrats on finishing!

I plan to put my gas cap on the bed side wall too. Any advice, tips, tricks to doing that?

    Thanks.
