    Wipers

I know this horse is dead, but I thought I'd kick it one more time. I am using the FFR wipers and the wheel houses supplied and having an issue with securing the wipers to the wheel houses. The splines don't really connect anymore and I tried to remedy the situation by drilling and tapping a whole in the wiper to tighten against the wheel house. Not a good mod for me.

I have seen, but can't seem to find, better mods for securing the wipers.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Jay -

I had to "massage" mine quite a bit to get them to engage properly, but many in the past would replace the FFR supplied wheelhouses with aftermarket versions from **********. Not sure if that's still the best answer, so maybe someone who has modded theirs recently can help.

    Chris,

Now that you mentioned it, that was an option. I am hoping to salvage mine. Pinching pennies.

I drilled and tapped the arms on two sides then used two cut down 10-32 stainless button head screws as set screws, look like they belong there...

I found this that shows the set screws, you can see them on the wiper arms

Try to find a SS collar or make one out of aluminum that will fit over the wiper arms housing with a set screw that will go through that housing onto the knurled part of the wheelhouse.

Jay - just another thought. When testing, make sure that you are putting paper towels under the wiper blades to mimic the reduced friction of a wet windscreen. Dry, the blades will have much more resistance to moving and the wheelhouses will tend to slip.

Wiper problem solved thanks to all your input. I decided to drill and tap 10 32 holes and insert button screws. We all have a rather good supply so they're always available. And Chris, I have wrapped the blades in plastic cellophane for good measure. I always get a satisfying feeling when things work well.
