    Dashboard questions-

Does anyone know if someone makes a carbon fiber dash for the MKIV.
    Or any other Dash options

    Looking for ideas and images

    Thanks

Lots of folks, including myself, have covered an aluminum dash in a carbon fiber look-alike material. I used 3M's 1080 vinyl; another option is Tolex (https://www.mojotone.com/Cabinets_x/...ber-Tolex-54-W). Options are many and varied, so I recommend you get a handful of samples & choose the one that feels most durable. Be sure to check for UV resistance!

You can also do a real carbon fiber overlay bonded to your dash. I did this one for another Forum member:

I have a friend that has an extra .05 aluminum unfinished dash based on my layout if you are interested. I suppose you could have carbon fiber bonded to it instead of leather.

Here is mine finished in leather. My glovebox is custom but I used Alex's template for the opening. This is Alex's glovebox http://acroadsterinteriors.com/Gloveboxes.htm

Here is one of the most comprehensive show your dash threads I have come across.

A bunch of the photo links are broken due to the Photobucket kidnappings but there are still a ton there to get great ideas.

I think I made off with the last real carbon fiber dash Factory Five produced about a dozen years ago. My friend Chris Bailey ("thunderball" here on the forums) has a mold and makes some absolutely beautiful ones in small batches from time to time. Send him a PM for info.

    Cheers,

I have seen John's up close many times and it is very nice. A friend did one many years ago also. One thing I liked about both is they are not the super glossy finish. More like a satin or eggshell (in house paint terms) so they avoided the 19 yr old driving a 10 year old ricer look.

I too used a carbon fibre overlay bonded to the aluminum dash, many sources out there and many different variations and colours. Pre-formed the aluminum dash before bonding the carbon to it. If you do use real carbon, it is fairly easy to work with but wear respiratory protection....dust is not good for you.
Used a set of carbon fibre insert door panels from Herb Fraser...ties it all together very nicely.

I would love one of those for mine. NYS requires a padded dash, so you need that to get it registered. I suppose after it is registered you could probably replace it with a new one, but I am not up for the *** ache that would create.
