Trouble getting the front exterior CV joint off the axle

    Greetings!
This is my first post! I have my 2007 WRX donor all torn apart and am working on my donor parts. It's been pretty good sailing up to now or at least until I have tried to remove the front exterior CV joint. The manual says tap it off. It doesn't want to budge. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I have the axle clamped pretty solidly in a vice vertically just as shown in the picture. Any ideas on how to move it off the end? Bigger hammer?
    Thanks folks.

Hopefully you have the original OEM axles. If they were replaced at some point with aftermarket ones, those may be very difficult to take apart or possibly unusable.
