Wanted -- drivers side door latch assembly

    Hi All,

I bought a Mark I about a year ago and today my drivers side door latch assembly bit the dust. No amount of fiddling with it helped.
I went to Factory Five to buy a new one and the web-site says they're out of stock. I'll give a call tomorrow, but I'm not too optimistic.
Does anyone have a drivers side latch assembly they would like to sell.
    Contact me at [email protected].
    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm sure I have anough parts here for a driver side latch assembly if you don't need the chrome cover.
If FFR doesn't have one send me a message!

You are aware about a repair to the latch? Using a carriage bolt?

Does your latch have the carriage bolt instead of the original pivot shaft ??

Back in the days of the mk1's and 2's, the latch was greatly improved by switching out the shaft with a carriage bolt and some washers. The thread for that mod is probably lost in the archives, but maybe someone knows where to retrieve it.

Many latches were saved from the trash.

That latch mod works "only" if you use spacers behind the mounting plate, OR, if you recess the door area itself. It won't work having any of the carriage bolt head protruding past the base and sitting flush on the door.
