    GTM Versions?

What is the difference between the different GTM Versions?

    What years are each version?

Which versions have overheat issues and what are the required mods to correct this issue?

which transaxle is better, G50 or G96

    thanks

The GTM came out in '06. I believe they started Gen II production in '11?...or somewhere around that time.

As for overheat issues, there are a couple different things going on there. On all GTM's FFR has the coolant reservoir mounted up front by the radiator and many people had a tough time keeping the air purged from the engine.....once an air bubble got trapped back inside the engine, it could not be forced up to the reservoir and would eventually overheat......so a lot of people end up relocating the coolant reservoir so that it's back by the engine and is the highest point in the system, like it should be. As for other issues, in my own experience, I don't think the stock Gen II hood has enough area to vent the heat from the radiator. You only have 8 small rectangular openings for the whole radiator to vent out of and all of the Gen II cars we've finished here seem to run much hotter than the Gen I cars did. As a result, I ended up designing some different louver options to get more area for heat to flow out of the back side of the radiator:

As for the transaxle, it depends on what you're after. The G50's are by far the most popular and available and less expensive. There is a G96/01 that I have no experience with, so can't comment on that one. There is also a G96/50 which is a completely different animal than the G96/01....and IMO, the G96/50 is the "slickest shifting" transaxle you're going to find for a GTM.....much better shift feel than the G50.
