    8.8 Rear Axle Leaking Problems

Just wanted to see if any one else had issues with the 8.8 axle leaking. When I first got it the pinion seal leaked so I fixed that, now my drivers side axle seal is leaking. I only have about 1,700 miles on it.

Just going by memory but isn't there a vent on the 8.8 ? If so, perhaps the issue may be that the vent hole was plugged or the vent isn't working.

I didn't even think of the vent thanks, I'll get a new vent bolt to include with the axle seal and bearing kit. I guess I should've done this when I got the axle, I just assumed it was good to go.

Yes, mine is leaking at the back housing seal. Very little at this point. I get one little ball of oil on the bottom of the housing. Only have 10 miles on it go-carting. Now I'll have to keep an eye on the axle seals. For the rear cover did you just get another seal and use a gasket sealant? I'll need to replace mine eventually.

If anyone wants a gasket or two for the 8.8 diff cover, let me know (email: jcm250b at juno dot com) and I will throw them in the mail. It will be Marie Kondo day at the shop this weekend and I'd like to see the spares I will never use get put to good use. I don't care about postage either - just pet a dog or do some other good deed in my name!
