CobraEarl, 44 Months with Pancreatic Cancer

Hi this is Earl Groce AKA CobraEarl, 44 month survivor of Stage Four Pancreatic Cancer. I was last published by PanCan in January of 2018 and Lets Win PC in ????? 2018. This is an update to my story.

Life continues to be GOOD!!!!!! I still get chemo every two weeks. Right now, Im in my 81th round of Folfirinox PLUS the experimental drug CPI613. I still 100% credit CPI613 for saving my life. My Wife and I still visit our grandkids in Canada multiple times each year. I always drive the 735 miles each way. I continue to work around the house and yard. My wife and I bought a SMALL condo at Carolina Beach back in October of last year. We are still decorating the condo. We visit the beach across the street often.

December 28, 2018 Juanita and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with about 70 of our family and friends. My new stage four Pancreatic Cancer friend David Wingo, who will celebrate 5 years in June 2019, since being given two weeks to two month to live celebrated with us. David was patient #5 in the 20 person phase I dosing study. I was patient #18.

Last August Juanita and I made it to our FOURTH Burning Man festival. Burning Man has been important to us because we had just returned from our first Burning Man a couple of weeks before I got my AWFUL diagnosis… Stage Four Pancreatic Cancer also in my lungs and liver. Juanita told me then that we would go back. I seriously doubted I would return but WE DID, Three Times…

In December of 2017, over two years into this journey, I reached out to the company that makes our CPI613, Rafael Pharmaceuticals. I wanted to say THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME TWO GREAT YEARS. And, how can I help you get the word out about this wonderful drug? Since that day, the CEO, Sanjeev Luther, Chairman of the Board Howard Jonas, David Wingo and I have formed a bond. Sanjeev attended our wedding anniversary and Howard had David and I ring the bell at the NYC stock exchange to celebrate Raphael Pharmaceuticals going public. David and I have VOLUNTEERED to help get the word out about CPI613 anyway we can. A phase III study was recently begun on CPI613 and David and I participated in videos to show to perspective doctors, patients and hospitals to help persuade participation in this phase III study. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then two videos of long term survivors that LOOK 100% HEALTHY have to be worth a million words. Actually David and I both have many months of clear scans and CA19-9 scores way below the magic 35. We have both had single digit CA19-9 scores. David peaked out at 25000 almost 5 years ago. Mine peaked at about 10,000 over 3.5 years ago.

LIFE IS GOOD. About 2 days during chemo every other week, I feel about like I have the flu but I CAN LIVE WITH THAT. I’m still convinced that CPI613 helps me and other phase I study patients that I met tolerate the Folfirinox.

IF you get a chance to tell someone my story of if you need help for a Stage Four Pancreatic Cancer patient, PLEASE CONTACT me at [email protected]

Keep it up Earl! After a bout with acute pancreatitis a couple months ago, I've come to conclude there is no sentence that pancreas goes in that gives people warm feelings. It's one of those things that no one thinks about until something goes wrong, and when it goes wrong it goes way wrong. So I'm very happy that you are successfully fighting the good fight! Good luck, God bless, and prayers coming your way for 51 years of marriage!
