I can't say I've ever been saved by a low oil level sensor, and I'm not even sure how many cars that I have owned even had one.
I'm back looking at the tiny gap between my headers and my starter and worried about heat soak and getting stranded. I could clock the starter away from the header IF I delete the oil level sensor (yellowish plug in the picture) and grind the protective boss off the pan. I'm running the C5 computer system with the DIC but I think I can bypass the warning message by jumping the wire.
One other option is to purchase a header flange/spacer but that would only buy me the thickness of the flange (usually 3/8").
