    Tail light wiring

Just finished wiring the tail lights per pages 454 & 459 of printed assembly manual. You end up with three wires coming out of the tail light units: White - ground; green - turn/brake; black - parking.
The supplied wiring harness has four wires (left side as an example): yellow - left rear turn; purple - brake; tan - left tail light; black - ground.

Question, with 4 wires going into 3 wires, do you tie the yellow and purple together and connect to the tail light unit green wire?
That leaves white to black as ground, and black to tan as tail light.

I am old and wiring challenged, so please don't be too harsh.

Also, I notice the FFR blue truck and the brown truck have the tail lights mounted in different locations. Any comments?

    Thanks, Ralph

Woops, this should not be in the Build thread section. Admin. please move to questions area.

All you use is the turn signal wires in the back. Just tape off the stop light wires do not connect the stop light wires. You can locate the rear lights where ever you want. Hope that helps.

Just to be clear, you are saying you don’t use the purple brake wire in the Ron Francis harness? And, just use the black ground, the yellow turn, and the tan tail light wires? Purple is taped off.
I noticed you use different tail lights, so not sure if wires are the same.

    Thanks, Ralph

That's correct. Don't use the purple wire. The manual is silent on the issue. My dad came up and helped me troubleshoot. I had it hooked up wrong.
