Awesome - Thanks for sharing. Cool to see the 2 generations side by side like that in your pics, the differences are subtle in the photos. What kind of rubber where you running for these races?

I'm running Nitto NT-05s at 25 psi all-around. No traction issues.

I don't know about the blue car.

Ok, both cars are running 3.55 rears (IRS).

Grey car: 295 rears, Nitto NT-05s
Blue car: 315 rears, Sumitomo HTR Zs

My car (grey) Ford Racing 302 at 345 crank hp
Jeff's car (blue) Ford Racing 363 at 500 crank hp

I have drag-raced other cars (automatics) but I found that launching a stick car to be a challenge- too little rpms and it falls flat, too many and wheelspin turns to hop and shakes the car so badly it would pop out of first gear. And you can see Jeff's traction issues in the second run. Once we both hit 3rd gear, he walks away.

I don't think either car is 'running the numbers' that the hp and car weights suggest. His ET suggests he has another 100 hp than me but his MPH seems quite low.

My 440 hp 1972 Chevelle runs 12.6 at 108 run-after-run (not sure what it weighs- 3600+ lbs?) and I was expecting my Coupe to about the same with 100 less hp.

It was cool that the track officials let us pair-up for our runs- normally the pairing is random.

We're going back soon- him on drag slicks and me with the augers out of the sidepipes. He's running Gen III sidepipes with the funky header-pipe transition (may be ok for forced induction motors, but for him...he's got some Slimlines to try as well). My augers are out now and the car moves better, but it's loud.

I'll be doing the road-course at Sonoma on May 19 with NASA.

Any problems without the augers at the road course?

Google says they run a 103db @ 50' sound limit.

Just curious - I'm thinking it might be close depending on where they measure it (catch open throttle @ 5000+ rpm).

I'll see what happens on the 19th.

I'll bring the augers just in case- maybe I'll just put them back in.

The car is fast enough either way.

    I'll report back.
