    15" Smoothie wheels

I want to run 15" smoothie wheels, 15×8 in the rear with a 285/70R-15 and 15x7 up front with a 225/70R-15. My issue is that all the wheels I found only have 4-41/2" backspacing. Is this going to have interference issues?

if you have outside clearance problems drop to 6 and 7 in wheels I bought 4 in wheels for front of truck
they can custom make wheels but getting over 4 1/2 will be rare and look weird
I had some custom made and tried them on my truck for test fit , expensive and takes time
take your time and get the righrt fitting wheels and save $$$

I have a lot of wheels that did not fit other cars to test fit
    rocket igniter are another wheel

I am looking at some 18 in wheels custom made but $460

if your gonna make wheel mistakes get some cheep swap meet wheels

I had these guys build my wheels for me in steel. They'll pretty much do anything as far as backspacing, etc. I chose to have 16" wheels made just because there were more tire selection available in that size.

I had my paint shop two-tone the wheels to match the car.

(I had to have white walls just for the nostalgia look)

They're located in Milwaukee, WI. Price runs about $100/rim depending upon style. There's a "smoothie" listed under their Street Wheels.

If you plan to run "Full Moon Smoothie Hub Caps" then maybe the Circle Track Roundie-Round World might help.

Love the paint on your hotrod. Love the pain combination on the wheels too. What tires and where did you get them? I want wide white walls too.

I bought the tires from Diamondback Tires ( https://dbtires.com/ ) I bot BF Goodrich "G-Force Sport" tires back in 2009. They've lasted through around 12K miles so far and have held up well. They buy the tires you specify and then vulcanize the white wall to those tires. First they grind off the lettering that comes on the tire to create the surface for the WW. Then they treat the rubber with something that seals it so the black won't bleed through the WW. Then it's attached. Then they trim the WW on a lathe to get it concentric and the width you want.
    Nice people.
My paints were 2008 Jaguar Chili Red Mica and GM Panel Truck tan.
Good luck with the wheels and tires. I look forward to seeing what you get.

    Tom-

I had no idea they could do that process to make whitewall tires! That's pretty "slick" technology to get white walls on the tires of your choosing. I appreciate you sharing the details.

And like the others, I really like your wheels and your HR. Great looking build, and super color combination, and a great spot for the break in colors.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Yes, and I think it's cool that you can get "red lines", etc for cars like the early GTO Pontiacs and other cars of that era. I wonder if they could do Red, White and Blue all on the same tire? Next time I order tires I'll have to ask.
I remember the first car onto which I installed Radial design tires after suffering with the old bias belt designs. What a difference it made. I'm sure a lot of the collectible car people are delighted to be able to buy modern radials which look like old bias belts with the side walls looking as though they are originals. I'm sure it makes many of those cars far more drive-able than they were back in the day.....

    or maybe....

I'm thinking of going with chrome smoothies from jegs or coke tire with coke vintage bias ply wide white walls. Going for the old school classic look. Especially going with this engine 20190504_103605.jpg
