There was a lot of talk about that car on the other forum after the ebay listing was posted. FYI, it's a Mk1, not a Mk2.
Good luck with your project!
Jeff
oof. That's a rough one.
I hope your plan is to tear it down and start over.
Best of luck with the build, and make sure to start a build thread. I'll for sure be following this one!
Do you know the chassis #? It should be located inside the square tube behind the cockpit on the driver's side.

Keep us updated, best of luck, make sure they have power of attorney to sign over the MSO, or can not register in certain states, had this problem once, just my opinion but your better off buying a new kit for 12900 get 3k in sale upgrades for free during the sale an d buy donor rear and engine if your tight on budget . Kit is over 19 years old and cannot get replacement parts for it

Hi Malcolm,
That chassis number is for an Mk2 Roadster shipped in March 2001. It went to a customer in Bolivar, OH. Unfortunately, due to a database crash in the early 2000s, we lost our records of his kit order so we aren’t sure of the original kit configuration.

I wrote a really long post and just erased it....like others probably not wanting to take away any of your excitement.
I’ll shorten it to this.
Congratulations on your purchase!!! Good luck on your endeavor and remember this forum has a wealth of indispensable

I am looking forward to the challenge! This is my 2nd Cobra, had one in 2009 before I went to Kuwait for 2 years!
This is kit FFR 2647K.
Say’s it has a title, engine, and I am assuming the rest of the drive train. With a whole lot of elbow grease could be a nice car for a great price. Good luck Malcolm, welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum! Your post piqued my interest since I have a Mark 1 and live in Bolivar OH. With a population of 900 I would have thought that I would have heard of another Factory Five in town.
My Mark 1, Chassis# 1827 was delivered in September of 1999 so pretty close to yours.
Last I checked my build site was still on-line. You might find it helpful for older reference pics.
Have fun with the build and post pics of your progress.

Well here are my thoughts. Have you seen ERICTHECARGUY on you tube. He is from Cincinnatti. We are talking about making it a TV assembly in a years time. It is already a 1991 fuel injected 302 w/automatic. Want to add comfort items, like a/c and heat, ps, pb, cruise and just have a nice driver. Have a friend in Lexington who does body and paint. Still deciding on colors. Very partial to blue with white stripes(to match Camaro SS I have) and of course UK Blue!
Good luck with the project. as mentioned, your best bet is to strip it down the frame, and start on upgrades from there. My 2nd and 3rd FFRs were bought as partially completed kits from other builders, but in both cases I took them down the frame to do some updates that came on the later MkIII cars. Some info here.

There are several things you can do (or have done) to stiffen up the chassis and improve the final project. If you can weld and bend steel tubing you can do most of them fairly easily with 3/4' or 2' square tubing. Add the trans tunnel backbone, change the footbox tube routing, add the thicker side tubing in the seat area, etc. One of the supporting vendors still sells the curved 3/4" tube to improve trunk space I think. I found a good local fabricator for these changes, and a chassis specialist for adding the IRS cage here:
https://sites.google.com/site/ffr7859/teardownframeprep
FFR might still have one of the old-style IRS cages available if you go that route, or see if they think the newer style can be welded into a MkI.
I really admire your interest in salvaging this and bringing it to life!
What an endeavor, this being the first FFR barn-find/restoration -of sorts!
Please keep us posted, it sounds like it will be an interesting ride!
All the best in your build,
Will

JohnnyB,
Well I picked it up on Tuesday 14 May! What a place/farm. Apparently the guy who died collected anything Ford. One Barn in particular was a 2 story affair. Upstairs was a 49 Ford! A 63 Falcon Convertible, many, many engines(flatheads, Y blocks) Looks like some special engines(flatheads). One barn had 1/2 dozen or so cars as far back as what looked like Model A truck with dual rear wheels. Mid 70's Lincoln. Another barn had new Ford sheetmetal for 71-73 Mustang. Lady says they were eventually going to sell it all!
Keep Us up to date please.I am very interested to see what you do with it.
