    Thread Sealant

When installing my CNC Triple Reservoirs I used Permatex High Temp thread sealant on the NPT to barb connections that threaded into the bottom of the reservoirs. After a week plus the sealant was still just as soft as the day I applied it. Should the sealant harden? Thinking it should, I removed the connectors, cleaned them and tried Loctite 547 instead. Same result, didn’t harden. Please let me know what to expect. I’ll be installing the NPT connector in the clutch master cylinder soon and wanted to make sure it I sealed appropriately as well.

No it doesn't harden, but seals very well.

If it hardens, it will shrink, If it shrinks it will leak. Thread sealant needs to stay soft and pliable to do the job of sealing against leaks.
