    Serpent Express Storage

Wondering if many store their Serpent Express trailers only indoors. I am looking for self storage facilities but one to house a trailer of this size are a bit pricey.

Do many of you let them sit out.

I've been leaving mine out for the last couple years. For the first few years of its life we rented indoor storage. But you're right, it's crazy expensive. Now that we've moved and don't need the storage space, plus no neighborhood covenants to deal with, I have it parked outside in the side yard. I did put a tarp over it last winter, but didn't this year. Just lazy I guess. I suspect in the long run the soft top will deteriorate more quickly with it outside vs. inside. How much, I don't know. But those storage costs add up really fast and I figure I can get a new soft top at some point if necessary.

Thank you very much. I just returned from attempting to back into a 10 by 22 rental facility and came to my senses. Tight would not have adequately described how tight it would have been. Their unit that would work is $195 monthly. I do have the yard space.

Mine always sets outside. I have thought of buying a camper cover and using that, they aren't very expensive. At $195 a month storage you could buy a very good cover and pay it back quickly. This one is less that a months rent.

    Jay,
At our County Fairgrounds as well as several surrounding counties they offer Boat, RV, trailer, etc. winter storage inside the livestock barns from October to April for a flat rate of <$250. Might be worth a phone call.

    Jeff,

Great idea, I'll will look into that. Though I could park it in my yard, I'd rather not. A friend of mine rents a spot in a secured but not covered lot, so I'll be looking into that possibility.

I store my 16' SE outside covered with a Harbor Freight tarp for $59. It will last for a year or so depending on the wind.

Great idea. Could you share the part number of the tarp.

    Thanks

Keeping it covered is the way to go. A small RV cover will last 3-4 seasons and then the HB tarps will last one. 10 years ago those plastic tarps would make it 2-3 years but these days they all go to shiza in short time....if you get the "extra heavy duty" you get to pay more for the same result ...da Bat

Those tarps go on sale frequently for $39.00; that's when I grab one. Good luck with whatever you decide. I just wanted to share my experience in hopes that it might help you with your decision.

Much appreciated as I believe I've located a very inexpensive locked lot to store the trailer. I will absolutely cover it.
