Removable Steering Wheel Recommendations

I'm starting to think ahead on the next phases of my Coupe (Type 65 Gen 3) and have a couple of questions about the steering wheel. 1) Is it worthwhile to include a removable wheel for ease of entry/exit? and 2) If so, are there kits that work well with the FF steering column and Steering Wheel (Leather wrapped). Just wondering if I need to replace the steering shaft or if any of the kits will just attach to the parts supplied by FF.

1) Yes; and 2) yes, check out the Breeze Automotive kit, which is very good.

The ability to get in and out of the car is greatly improved with the quick release steering wheel set up.

I change the wheel because of an issue that I have with my left hand.

The next question is... Do you plan to use RT turn signals? I have NO firsthand experience, but have read that the two are not compatible. Check it out beforehand to be sure.

I went with a dash mounted turn signal on my MKIV (Switch that I can reach with my right hand on the shifter) and will likely do the same on this. I do plan to use momentary activator switch and an auto-cancellation.

So... won't have to worry about a Turn Signal arm on the column. But good consideration and I appreciate you pointing it out

Ducky is right either one or the other.
Although there was a coupe for sale recently that had both but the owner owns a machine shop and crafted a one off piece. I reached out to him to see if he would make a duplicate but to no avail.

I’ve talked to Russ a couple of times about quick release and his turn signal. Normally not comparable. I found this and sent pictures to him and it might work. When I get myself up and running (or at least walking) again and back to work so I can afford it, I’ll order and send to him to see what he can do. The setup looks very promising to me and also no need to weld on the steering shaft. Just drilling and tapping some mounting holes. Very low profile and could be a really slick option for us all if it works out! Then we can have the best of both worlds...

Looks like it has the ability to use a steering wheel mounted horn too?

Naw just a really short quick release hub. It would take the place of the hub. Planning on a horn button like that too but I need to get it all in front of me to visualize a plan. Lol I’m hoping for something everyone will like for years to come... or maybe just an epic fail? But couple it together with Skidd’s ‘Hot Rod Blinkin’ and it could be really cool!! Maybe carrying it a little bit too far for the true purest, but pretty much learned functionality for everyone else?
