Need to drill pickup tubes for EFI in tank pump?

Getting ready to install pump inside tank. FFR instructions are for in-line pumps and they show drilling out the end of the pickup lines. The FFR instructions for in-tank fuel pump do not say anything about the pick ups. What do you guys think? Do I need to drill out the pickup ends?

Page 260 in my '33 manual says to start with a 1/4" drill then increase the drill size to 9/32 or 19/64 to open up the end.

I called FFR about this when I was at this step. They said it was not necessary to drill out the tubes on the EFI pickup.

Thanks for the responses. If FFR claims its not necessary that's good enough for me. Thanks for saving me a step chjort. Not sure why the in-line pump requires it and the in tank does not. I also noticed that the supply pipe for the in-line pickup tube assembly is larger diameter than the EFI in tank pick up pipe.

The ends were very crimped on the last one we did. We opened them up the make the lines their full size. Not enough to eliminate the taper, quick fittings still work fine, but enough to make sure it wasn't a restriction. JMHO.
