When to install hard top front and rear glass?

Finally have the top painted and i'm ready for glass. Only two questions left and they are: do I get this done when the top is mounted to the body or is it OK to do it off the car? Second, should the glass be installed flush with body or slightly recessed. Thanks as always for the help.

Do it off the car. You can do it either way on the flush or not.

Its probably too late now, but trial fit it before you have the hard top painted and mounted for what you think is the final time. I just learned that the hard way, the windshield does not fit correctly. It pivots top to bottom, the windshield is just a little bit too wide, the fiberglass recess that it fits into has a small bulge on the side in the middle of the drivers side. I have removed the hardtop again and have to grind down that area and while I am at it cut the flange to 3/4" to gain just a little bit more viewing area. Much better if this was done before painting.
