Alignment Question

Forgive the newbie question but I’ve just purchased a Mark 4 Cobra and it looks like it’s going to need a front end alignment to adjust the toe in on the front end. I’ve been reading quite a lot about how difficult it is to jack these cars up and it’s got me wondering if there is any special considerations I need to factor in before I run down the street for an alignment. Any wisdom you guys could share would be appreciated.

Is your car sporting a manual or power rack?
The caster settings are a different depending on which system you are running.

I bought Rick Haytons car, # 9058 and has power steering. The car tracks well but the wheel is maybe 10 degrees off to the left. Rick indicated that he thought the alignment might be off a bit so I thought I’d get it looked at before I chewed up tires.

That is pretty common if your car doesn't have the offset solid bushings that are sold by Mark Reynolds of Breeze Automotive.

If it’s just a matter of the wheel being off a bit, 10 Dey is probably 1/4 to 1/2 turn of each tie rod end to fix. Mine was like that when I got it on the road, bit of trial and error, ended up taking 1/2 turn to centre the wheel. Turn both sides the same so your toe adjustment doesn’t change.

Thanks guys. Found some settings on the forum and after a bit of adjustment to the tie rods got everything into alignment.
