Hi all,
Quick questions here:
I have my new parts from FFR on hands.
Do you have to go through all 3 steps when you want to cover new parts with POR 15?
Or is it just for already rusted parts that you got to use the two initial prays on?
TIA

I would use all three steps regardless. Even if its clean looking metal, there's probably some surface oxidation that is not that visible. It also clean the surface for better adherence.

I used to think I needed a Rolex watch, now I’d be happier with a Swedish K!
You can also look at their POR15 "Top Coat" product for brand new parts.
I had the same question and ended up doing the metal prep but not the degreaser on new parts. Figured there was no grease to remove but the metal prep etches the surface and makes the POR15 Top Coat easier to adhere I believe. The POR15 Top Coat really covers very easily, so I am not sure how much the prep is needed but you only get once chance to do it right from the start. Figured I would much rather do the metal prep now then have it start to flake off and need to clean it all off and start over.
Same response as John. I'd use any company's wax and grease remover for "step 1," but the POR-15 etching solution seemed to help with the adhesion of the POR-15 coating on some bike racks I made years ago - it gave the surface some "tooth."
Hi All,
I've used the 3 steps on parts and it looks quite ok. Did you guys went after that with the top coat or just let at the POR15.
I'm just wonderring if the UV menace is that real...?
TIA
Left mine as is. Did the rear axle so not too worried about UV
