Diff Covers... might want to double check the design

Stumbled upon this yesterday.. found it quite informative. Especially the part about the shape of diff covers being integral in how the diffs are lubed.

His information is spot on. Having worked at Dana for the last 11 years, we test diff covers and lube flow all the time. Smooth fluid movement is key to proper lubrication. I'm going to look at the rest of his videos as there are a lot of young engineers I work with that could benefit from another point of view.

I watched those a couple months ago. Very interesting information. Sometimes factory items, while not flashy, just work better.

    "Chrome don't get you Home"...

Kinda funny how the ugly plain-Jane steel cover (that whoever spent $$$$$ on R&D on) does the job intended...

OK, since you work at Dana, what is the corporate professional opinion of the value of the bearing supports that most of the aftermarket covers have ? Absolutely necessary, nice to have, or worthless ?

Potentially useful if you have 700-800 hp on drag slicks in a 3500# car. On these cars worthless. Have you ever seen a report of busted bearing caps on a Cobra? It's unbelievable the amount spent on race gimmicks for street cars.
