If you look in the pic with the rear shot, there appears to be a Mk 3.1 sitting with boxes on the hood. I'd hate to think it's been there a long time.

I saw your car when I was there in April. Beautiful. Nice to see pictures of it again. And it was REALLY nice to see that gray.

That looks really nice, Joe! I love those cars.

I have been considering a very similar paint scheme on my Mk4, though with traditional stripes. Would you mind sharing your paint colors? Thanks.

They have a few cars there that people have either abandoned or didnt have the money to finish. When I was there last, there was a MkIII that had been sitting for quite a while. Story was that the owner did all the bodywork, then dropped it off just wanting it painted. The bodywork was so bad they couldnt paint it, but the guy wont pay any money other than paint, so it has sat there. They have their own GTM there, half done because nobody has any time to work on it. Very busy shop.

Body is Ford Sterling Grey Metallic, Stripe is Ford Silver Metallic. Stripe appears white in photo's. Car looks outstanding in the sun.

Thanks, Joe. The Ford Sterling Grey Metallic is one I had been considering. If you happen to get any pictures of it in the sun, I'd love to see them! it looks incredible.

Yeah, for the life of me I can't figure out this business model. I know this has been discussed at length before and they do great work and all that, but how hard would it be for them to say "You're #xx in line... send us your car in 20 months." No way in hell I'd send my car off and not have it back for nearly 2 years. Not to mention, I can't imagine the liability they're unnecessarily exposing themselves to with all those cars they're not working on sitting in their shop.

    Beautiful car, though. Congratulations!

I know a guy that has had a coupe there since I started my build in Oct 2015. I joked with him at the time that I was going to beat him to the finish line at that rate.....and the coupe is still there.

Love the color choice and stripe work, but I have one question:

Did they build the car for you or was it sent to them to tackle the body and paint work?

    Congratulations!

Very nice! Although 22mths is crazy and not acceptable IMHO.

They did not build the car. They did bodywork and paint and a few small (several days labor) chassis items. Truth is you get an initial estimate of 6-8 months and if you pull it at 12 months you're right back where you started.
It is what it is. Outstanding work, but their process (business model) takes time. I want to avoid making this thread a bash.

Car looks amazing. Cant wait to see the finished project! Great choice on your colors!

Im always an advocate for Whitby on their work. No arguing that is a long time line and the discussion always goes to that and it is easy to develop to a bashing thread. Good for you trying to avoid that.
Is the quality of work everything you hoped it would be? Any complaints there?

Absolutely no issues on quality of work. Fit of Panels (an area I am sensitive about) is excellent and paint is flawless.
