    Another wiring question, Flashers

The good news is that all my lights seem to work! However, my turns signals and Hazards don't "flash". should I just replace these flasher things?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I doubt that both flasher relays are bad. Are all the lights connected, or are you just checking the wires for current? There needs to be a load on the circuit for the flashers to work.

Dave is absolutely right. If you switched over to LEDs, you’ll have to get the LED flashers.

Thanks Dave, All the lights are connected and light up as they should. They just don't flash.

Thanks Henry, that must be the problem. I am using LEDs. I don't suppose you happen to know what the part number is on LED flasher?

Here are a couple I found on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Compati...12-spons&psc=1

    https://www.amazon.com/CEC-Industrie...0995&s=gateway

Just search for "no load 2-pin turn signal flasher"

Sorry, I was on a plane Mark. Dave is right (again)! You can also go into any parts store and ask for a 2 pin LED flasher. Most have a wire coming out the top that needs to be grounded.

I'm using something similar to these units from NAPA

In case you're interested, here's why your original flashers didn't work...
The supplied flashers are "thermal". They rely upon the load of conventional bulbs to heat a bi-metal strip inside. The strip heats up, bends out of the way (breaking connection), and the lights go out. The strip cools, springs back (making connection) lights are on... repeat.

LED's don't draw enough current to heat up the strip - so it never breaks the circuit.

The "electronic" flashers are basically a timer circuit that fires a relay. They are not load dependent to operate. It sees +12 on the input and it starts timing an cycling the output.
