    LS3 air intake piping to throttle body??

    Have any of you come up with another method of piping the intake so the engine isn't sucking 180°F air from the radiator?
    Initially I was going to have the filter as shown however after putting the hood in place the filter sticks out 3" past the side of the side engine cover.
    The MAF needs a minimum of 6" of straight section before any bends. The tubing used is 4". I can't angle it down due the top radiator hose.

    This is my setup and it works just fine. I asked my tuning guys and he said that it will be fine and adjustments can be done when we put it on the dyno.

    It does not interfere with my hood or side panels. Every installation will have their nuances.

    Thanks Andreas, I could do it that way if I change how the top radiator hose connects to the engine. That may be the easiest way.

    Thanks Andy. I see you have your overflow tank on the drivers side. I'll look into moving mine then maybe I won't need to get a different top radiator hose and can have the filter on the pass side.

    UPDATE.
    I just checked it out, it may not work out. I'll be using the hood and don't have the hinges on yet, the resevoir could interfere with them.
    I just ordered more intake tubing and an elbow from Speedway. Will look into re-routing the top hose too.

    In order to have a cold air intake, you have to bring it out the side of the hot radiator. There is no room to bring it out the bottom. I plan on having it out tut top half of the drivers side.

    Problem with anything aft of the motor mounts is the heat rising from headers. It's gonna be hard to get anything out of the heat without extruding through the side skirts or hood. In my GTO days we had similar issues. Possible solutions we found were:

    1. An isolation box mounting to the inside of the outer skirt

    2. A pipe routed to extend the filter to the lower fron of the car, beneath the radiator flow if possible

    3. Some upper hood scoop, forward ot the TB with a sealing shield beneath.

    4. An alternative would be a Vic Jr Intake with a carb style throttlebody or an elbow

    I realize these are not on 33 Hot Rods but the idea of isolating the cold air coming in is still the same. Also we played with relocating the IAT Sensor as well as a dry 150 shot into the tube. What is problematic is if you are running a metal tube across the engine, the air will heat up before it gets into the TB, especially when you stop and go a lot.

    Right wrp, I'm still looking for a way (without cutting the hood or engine side panels to get some cold air in.
    On my other car I did it like one of your pics, down under the front bumper.
