gen 2 Coyt no power to fule pump

Fuel pump works when you reconnect to the power wire that you cut in the fuse box but no power when hooked up with computer controlling the fuel pump. I need some trouble shooting help.

Auto correct sucks. Fuel not fule

I ran my fuel pump off the fuel pump wire in the Ron Francis harness, computer doesn't need to control the fuel pump basically it needs an on/off switch with relay. Follow the instructions in the manual for coyote hook up. I think the newer version of the manual has instructions for the gen 2 engine as it is different for the gen 1.

    Paul,

Thanks. With Ron Frances it worked great. With GEn 2 they tell you to cut the relay wire and solder to computer control. It works it just comes on like a new car for a few seconds and goes off.

Are you running the engine? Or just turning the key to on without starting? The Gen 2 PCM does control the fuel pump circuit. When you turn the ignition key to the first position, the fuel pump runs briefly to pressurize the system. Maybe a second or two. Then shuts off. It will start running continuously when the engine starts and is running.

On a side note, Factory Five has had two different versions of how to break into the RF panel for the fuel pump. Initially, it was wired so the Coyote system was the sole source of power, e.g. for both the inertia switch relay and the fuel pump itself. Later instructions showed only to use the Coyote systems to control the relay, and the actual power for the pump is via the RF panel. Personally, I prefer the first setup and have wired both Coyote builds that way. FWIW.

    Guys,

I have the fuel pump working on when you turn key on it will turn on momentarily then quite; however, it doesn't start back up. I actually ran a straight hot and ground to run the fuel pump full time and the pressure is 55 psi and the engine starts but dies even with the fuel pressure up. Any ideas? Tried many times today but starts and dies.

Like I said in your other thread, how's your MAF sensor? Hooked up? Oriented in the proper direction? No way to say with any certainty, but if you're getting the initial pump run when the key is turned on (like I described in my last post) I'm guessing the pump may not be the problem. What you're describing is what happens with either no or backwards MAF. The computer shuts the engine (and the pump) down almost immediately after starting if it's not getting the proper MAF signal. It can be installed backwards. The open end of the sensor (the part that is in the airflow) must be pointed toward the air cleaner. IMO hot wiring the pump isn't a good idea...

    Edward,

You are the Man. The MAF sensor was backwards!!! starts and runs, first run. Now I still had to hot wire the fuel pump. It is being controlled by Ford distribution box. It is perfect if I hot wire the fuel pump. However, running through the distribution box, it is not giving signal. The Coyt ran great this morning and fired right up when I changed the flow of the MAF. I cut the Ron Frances wire pretty short, I guess I could move the wire back to the RF if I can get enough to solder the wire back on the stubby on the fuse box. Any ideas on the fuel pump through the distribution box?

Also, Thank you. I spent all day yesterday emailing and on the phone with Ford Performance and they never figured it out, you did in a few seconds!!!!

    Zach
