Question 25th Anniversary buyers - did you get the bronze wheels? What paint scheme?

I'm curious how many guys jumped on the 25th anniversary car - seems like black with bronze will work, as well as blue. But I haven't seen any roadsters with bronze wheels as of yet...

who's in? and what are you doing?

PS - i also know that you can still buy the standard halibrand wheels too

    I ordered the standard wheels.
A blacked out car would look great with bronze wheels but I just couldn’t picture all the chrome mixed with the bronze wheels.

If I were the proud owner of one of these, I'd have to think about something like a pearl white body with stripes in the same bronze tone as the wheels with a possibility of an accent pin stripe in another coordinating color; black, blue, burgundy, charcoal gray. The possibilities are endless.

Love those wheels on their own but having a hard time picturing how they look good with chrome accents on the rest of the car.

If I was going to build it I will take the bronze wheels and everything else that shines will take the Spectra Chrome treatment in bronze and a mustard color interior, the exterior will be ivory...

Those cars look great with the bronze wheels.... But they also don't have all the chrome that the roadster has. I just can't picture the bronze and chrome together, but I'm very curious to see the finished product.

Powder coat the roll bars and that leaves the windshield frame, mirrors, and bumpers. The windshield frame would be the hardest to deal with, but you could strip the chrome and polish the brass as one option.

The wheels in the pics Papa Dave posted are gold (and by the way, all look good!).

    Here's the real deal:

Definitely not gold; the color is actually more like a true (unoxidized) magnesium wheel.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

I like the rims. Went back and forth on them when ordering. Too late now though.

You’d have to deal with the exhaust too in matching the wheels, since the 25th comes standard with polished exhaust.

I'd definitely go white with wheel-colored stripes and maybe black out the rest of the trim that could be blacked out.

Car #002-025 I did not like them in the pictures at all and almost did not order them but figured they are part of the 25 th so I had to get them. The the second I opened the box I was like oh yeah this will work. I am thinking maybe charcoal black. But also a big fan of pearl white. I don't know right now, but I have about a year to decide.

Just as an idea, you can vinyl wrap the headlight trim, blinker trim, tail light trim in any color to match. I wrap vehicles as a side gig and I have a sample that will match this bronze. The window trim can be wrapped. I haven't held the gas cap in my hand just yet to see if I could wrap it but, I'm sure the hole top part could with no issues.

I know some are not a fan of vinyl wraps but each year they are making this material better. My whole Cadillac is wrapped, and I did a few other vehicles local and interior trim on a few cars.

I actually planned to wrap my parts in satin grey for the paint scheme I have planned for my cobra.

I may be in the minority, but I don't like the wheels or the bronze color. I believe they limit your paint choices, clash with most colors, and are a bit of a fad color that may become quickly outdated with that "what were we thinking" feeling. Just like avocado and golden harvest kitchen appliances, and shag carpet. And disco music...disco and Cobras do not match well (disco with Yugo's and other under powered hamster boxes, maybe. But not with a Cobra). LOL.

I’m excited to see what the anniversary buyers do with these kits. Not for everyone, but I know Superformance and Backdraft sell a ton of cars with “non-traditional” looks. Go for it guys, build them the way you want them.

I think the 25th anniversary wheels look awesome but I'm not a big fan of the bronze color. I would get them for the looks, but powder coat them black and go with a chrome delete on all the other shiny parts.

anyone know the paint color or RGB color of the 'bronze' wheels? color matching stripes may look good....

I agree they look more grey than bold/bronze...

If I get a vote then I really think a deep metallic red on the body with stripes like War Eagle Scott has on his car would be the bomb.

Roll bars need be muted; however, I think they should be a slightly darker color than the stripes and wheels, but near enough to work well with and complement the wheel & stripe color.

Not a fan of the new wheel or color. Ordered my 25th with the traditional 18's. I think the stainless steel side pipes go well with the original wheels. It will be interesting to see pics of the FFR car at SEMA coming up.

    25th Anniversary Paint Scheme

    Hey guys,
I've got #4 / 025 and went with the bronze wheels. My initial reaction wasn't super positive, but figured this is part of what makes this anniversary edition 'special.' I haven't thought much about paint yet, although first thoughts similar to others here are leaning towards a black with bronze stripes, or possibly ruby red?

I'll be excited to see what others are doing as their projects move along. Thanks, Jeff

    Hey All,

I also ordered a 25th Edition as well, and I actually fell in love with the wheels! I dig the Halibrand's, they're the traditional wheels and their sweet, but long ago I learned that if something you buy is a "special or limited" type of item that comes with particular color(s) or setup, you just go with it! I was planning on getting a 2nd set of wheels and tires in the future anyway. I think these wheels can work with almost any color, you just have to blend it correctly and it should look great. I haven't seen these wheels in person, yet, but in the various pictures from different types of cameras, there's clearly a difference in color and varying tones depending on the light? Even in the sunlight, they seem to look more gold? And why do I say that? Go check out factoryfive.com. They have the (25th Anniversary MK4 Roadster #01) that they're sending off to SEMA/auctioning for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation out on the site. It looks really sweet, even in silver! They also posted views of the interior too. Anyway, go check it out and post your reaction and thoughts. And to all the 25th builders, enjoy your journey and I'll be following along with each of you.

To clarify and correct, that is the prototype Anniversary car and it is going to be at SEMA but it is not the LCS raffle (raffle, not auction) car.

Ahhh... okay, thanks for the clarification, Jeff! I mean, you would know! Either way, I'm digging the way it looks, even in Silver! Did you paint that? As I was telling Dave (Papa) in his thread, I'll be looking you or Miller up in the future to paint mine!

No, the prototype was done at a shop near Factory Five. I am donating the body & paint labor for the London Cobra Show raffle car. I may tweak the silver color a bit but the pearl white stripes with black border will stay the same and in the end the cars will be near twins if not identical.

That is very cool of you, Jeff! You have the touch and I love the paint scheme/color combination too. I can't wait to see your work up close on Dave's (Papa's) Roadster. Like I said in his post, I'll be knocking on yours or Jeff M's door to do mine in the future! Also, thanks for the clarification. Awesome work my Jeff!

I also have the Bronze 25th 18” Wheels, and I love white cars, trucks, etc.
