    first track day

After driving my GTM about 1,600 miles on the street I was fortunate enough to take it out to the track for a high-performance driving school at the Summit Point Motorsports Park.
I had a couple of mechanical hiccups but fortunately nothing that duct tape and tie wraps could not fix.

For my first couple of sessions every time I would hit 110 miles an hour like clockwork I would start to hear a flapping and then a banging and it would feel like the floor pan was about ready to come apart. Upon inspectionThis is what I found.

This fix stabilize the panel and allowed me to do approximately 140 mph on the straightaway without any problems.

One of the other problems I had was the boot slipped off the inner cv joint. A zip tie was enough to hold it on for the rest of the sessions.Roast

I can't wait to get mine on the track!

There was a guy years ago with big horsepower (I think TT) who ripped off that entire aluminum panel in the 1/4 mile. You absolutely have to seal it that front panel to the second one...

Yeah....we normally rivet a chunk of 3/4" aluminum angle iron inside of that leading edge of the alum. Sounds like a fun time at the track!

That's a nasty tear on the panel; it looks like a rock cut through it?

Post a video of the track session!

That is just normal if you don't reinforce the panel. The leading edge of that panel catches a ton of air and all it has is a little rolled edge for strength. Once the air pressure becomes too much for it to hold, the panel kinks in the center and flops around in the wind and also hits the pavement.....which tears the alum.
