Coyote in a 35 Truck putting coolant in, expansion tank or reservoir questions
Hello,
I am putting Coyote Gen 2 in my 35 and we are trying to figure out the best way to put coolant into the system and how we will check it later. The hose from the radiator to the top side of the engine is at too much of an angle and it would not be at the highest point to have the engine burp to get he air out of the system. Any insight would be great. We are at the point to go cart the truck, check the fan and gauges. Just need to add coolant and burp the system first.
No experience with either the Hot Rod or the Truck. But shouldn't there be a T-filler in that upper radiator hose? From looking at pictures, see the top of the radiator is exposed in the Hot Rod and has a filler cap. But appears it's covered for the Truck. On Factory Five's Truck gallery, that engine installation has a T-filler. Not a Coyote, but would seem should be the same. One alternative is to pull the heater hose connection on the LH side of the engine (the one also with a leg going forward, used for the OE cooling setup) and fill there. You'll be able to get a lot in, but not sure 100% since it's so much lower than the radiator. Would be enough for first starts, etc. but probably not a permanent solution.
