    IndyCar amateurs

Wait. Maybe that's an insult to amateurs the world over. On Sunday in Baltimore the morons put on a restart directly into the path of a "safety" truck (sic) going 50 mph or better against the flow.

I hope that the IndyCar series, which has become a complete joke anyway, goes the way of the dodo bird before they (er, Barnhardt) kill someone. The video at the bottom of this link, taken by a fan in the stands, almost made me throw up. http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...r-in-baltimore

Wow. They need to have a "safety stand down" and make sure everyone from Barnhart and Bernard down to the safety teams knows the do's and don'ts before someone gets hurt. Did you see Kanaan's accident in morning warmup? One of the track workers was hanging out from behind the wall, and went running as Kanaan's car came at him in mid-air.

The street courses have to be the toughest to work. The permanent road courses and ovals all have well-established areas that the crews are used to living within. They get to these street circuits where the course is temporary and seem to lose their focus on safety.

They make such a big show of their synchronized communication by counting the rows of cars as started (Row 1 HOT, etc), and when they come to the green. There's just no excuse for not knowing the situation on track when you're holding the green flag.

Wow, that is just nuts... reminds me of the old jam car on my slot car tracks a bit though.

I only caught a bit of the race and was surprised that Danica didn't get called for passing under the yellow... but hey its Danica right?

I agree on Indy just aint what it used to be. That split between CART and IRL did damage that just can't be undone.
