    Alternative license plate mounting

I've been trying to think of how to move the bracket up if FF5 doesn't offer the new trunk lid and had just about decided to try building up my trunk with fiberglass but since I've never worked with it and have done quite a bit of metal work I thought I would try that first. Here's what I came up with using some scrap stainless steel I had. Needs more work on the polish but I was wondering what others thought about this approach. I guess you could make it out of steel or aluminum and paint to match the body color but would like some feedback. It raises the bracket 1 1/2" so you still have to watch out for the pinch between the license plate and the trunk latch handle but every little bit in height increases the front to back quite a bit.

I just trimmed my license plate to fit. It passed inspection, and I've never had any complaints from the police.

    Nice Period Correct Looking Solution!

Here is a solution that might work too for those of us who can't weld very well and tend to make Volcanic Bird Poop instead:

You can see my solution at the beginning of the video shown below:

I'm not sure if you have paint or gelcoat, but I did the Kleiner mod and had Bat build up the mount pad during the body work. See post 22, bullet #7. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...d-Circumstance

Work is nice but I took a simpler approach. Notched & insulated the plate & bonded it to the FFR cross piece as the screw holes no longer lined up. No issues with inspection or roving police cars.

Looks like it was a lot of work.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone and no hurt feelings, it was a lot of work, but being retired gives me a lot of time & I hate daytime tv, actually most tv period. If I ever get the VIN & title there won't be as much time to work.

I like it. I'd much rather work in metal than in FG and body filler so I'd do your fix for sure.
