FFR MKIV ordered 12 July 2019. IRS, Wilwood Brakes, 18" Wheels w/MT tires, power steering, EFI, Heat. 347 Dart w/TKO-600 by Mike Forte, Holley FI, MSD coil and CD box. All new, no donor build.

It seems like all the 25th anniversary editions I've seen so far are getting coyotes. I am curious anyone not putting a coyote in it?

I went with a 351W (427c.i./f.i.) for my build. I think 500+ HP will be more than plenty! Even though I wanted a true 427FE, I decided to go this direction for various reasons. I think the Coyote's are cool and possibly I too should have ordered one, but I really wanted to open my hood and see something similar from my childhood dream. I was also going to go carburetor, but will go with fuel injection instead for the very reason that I plan to drive this car everywhere! Starting in the Colorado Rockies (Trail Ridge Road) specifically, driving all over the rest of them and then across America and everywhere-in-between.

Agree that Coyote’s are very cool but a SBF is classic. Good luck in your build and hope you post a build. I like the old school engines.

Thanks, Gizmosrcool! Yeah, I'm partial to the them as well and so I decided to follow my heart in making the final decision. I do plan to document each step of my build journey too. Not sure it will help anyone, since there are so many fantastic builds already out here, but perhaps I can cover something someone hasn't already? BTW, I dig your ID Name!

Love the Blueprint Engines 427 package - but for my needs I could actually get the Coyote & trans for cheaper!?

Talk to some of the California members who have made it though the Smog Nazi Process before you decide.
Clean Air Regulations out there where you live are totally insane so your engine choice does matter so buy wisely.
With that said the Coyote may be your best option to pass the sniffers and related regulatory silliness.

Not quite right Steve. He may already know but SB100 allows us to register the vehicle as a 1965 model subject to 1965 smog regulations. All that entails is a "closed" system, AKA a PCV valve and crankcase breather line to the intake. Now the exhaust volume is another story, don't want to get cited with stock pipes, you'll never pass!

Hey toadster, yes, I agree with you! I too priced out the difference between them and it would have been many several thousands dollars cheaper, but I had my heart set on the "old school/classic" engine. I guess that shows my age! With the new 427 tail lights being released, it just seems to fit my expectations better. That and my old 56 Ford Pickup had the 427 Cobra valve covers on my engine. I know, I know wrong vehicle, but I always dreamed of seeing them again. I really wanted to do a 427FE, but figured it was better for me to just go with the new DART small block with brand new build. I'm planning 20-25g's for the engine/tranny package. Now, if I went with a coyote, I would certainly throw on the super charger, but that's me. However, I think 500+ HP will be scary enough?! Again, nothing against the coyote engine, they're way cool. It just didn't fit my expectations and I want to dress up the engine bay in a particular way, and having a classic gives me an opportunity to continue the paint scheme and really carry it through completely. Plus, with this 25th Anniversary Edition, I've completely changed on what I am doing -vs- a Complete Kit build and now I want to just stay true to FFR and their main partners and products.

Your response is exactly what I was hoping to trigger for our new family member.
You fellows that know the California regulations really can help him avoid a lot of pain.
