Question 33 Roadster Rear upholstry trim

I'm guessing this piece can stay in place when the convertible top is installed? Getting ready to attach this to the body and wondering what others have used for attachment.

Don’t know about the vert top but I used HD Velcro to hold the trim piece on.

Thanks Henry. This is Jack Sargent, building another car. Can't seem to stay away.

It has to come off when the top goes on.

Same here, we used the velcro for double duty. First was to attach the trim piece when the top was off and the second was to provide a cover for the seam between the top and the main body when the hardtop was on.

Side question. Mine does not sit on the body flat. Did anyone have to bend theirs to get it to sit flat? The velcro will not hold mine down as it currently sits. Do I need to leave it some place warm or put a heat gun on it to form it?

I have a removable hard top so I will be modifying the cover provided to allow me to take advantage of the 5 attachment points for the rear of the hard top. I have found some 1/4-20 flat furniture bolts (about 3/4" diameter allen key heads) that I will use to simply bolt through the cover to hold it down. Clean, simple, and easy to remove once I place the hard top back on. I also will be adding a seal all around so it sits evenly and there is no gaps under it. I am doing it this way, as well, as my third brake light has the wires coming out the bottom back and as it butts up against the hard top, it will do the same for the cover so there's no gap between them.

I wish. Leo's Upholstry in McKinney Texas actually did it. They recovered the seats and the waterfall plus made the roof liner and the Roll Bar Pad that unzips. The console box was made by 121 R&R while the console was originally a Dan Ruth Innocative Rodding Specialist product the Leo's covered. 121 R&R worked the old air HVAC into the Console. The kick panels are Tim Whiteaker's design with cover from Leo's. The carpet is much upgraded with the rubber footrest pad on the driver's side. My wife worked with Roy at Leo's to pick the color.

Not sure what you are asking. What doesn't sit flat, the top or the velcros strip? My velcro strip only hides the bolt holes for the top.
