Trunk hinges
Stock trunk hinges keep breaking.
I've had this car for 10 years, no problem, wife lifts trunk to get groceries, one hinge breaks. (three weeks ago)
I replace both. Mechanic lifts trunk, one hinge breaks (two weeks later).
I use one good hinge from each of the two sets, go for ride, both hinges break! Almost lost trunk!
Are there after market hinges available, I'll go looking, or I'm going to have some made, not going to use stock hinges again, that's 4 breaks in 3 weeks!

Not a waxer
FYI if you are not aware; they are right and left specific. If you mix them up they are prone to breaking.

What Jeff said. Look at the profile of the hinge. You will see one side is taller than the other. The tall side goes to the outside of the car. Also I believe they are labelled "L" and "R" on the underside.

The visible end of the hinge pin faces inboard. Those hinges, at best, open the trunk to a 50* angle before they start to roll and twist towards each other. It's a geometry thing...da bat

The first one to break has been on the car for over the ten years I've owned it, no telling how long before that...
I did not know there was left/right, my error, went to manual, yup, you guys are correct, so now to order new set, or rummage through my shop to see if I have another set laying around
Thanks for the information!! Always helpful here!
