Greetings,
I had a discussion with another forum member about the '35 truck.
We were wondering if the '35 truck could pull maybe a light trailer?
Can anyone confirm if the truck can be retrofitted for that? Thanks!

I’m planning on fabricating a Class I or II hitch for my Gen 3 Coupe, to tow a tire trailer or the occasional motorcycle. If the hitch is properly made, distributes the load well, and you keep the tongue weight of your trailer light enough (10% of the total trailer weight is a good starting point)....I don’t think you’d ever have a problem. I’m sure the 35 Pickup frame is more useful in the back than mine...I have a lot of fab engineering to do.

It would be something custom made. I am sure it could pull a small light trailer.
How likely would it be for FFR to build a hitch for a retrofit?
Maybe future chassis?

I'm confident I could design, engineer, and fabricate a hitch that would safely pull a moderate weight trailer with the FFR truck so I'm gonna say it's a very doable modification for someone with the right skill set. But it most assuredly requires the necessary skills and knowledge to do so. Don't just go to a neighbor that has a welder or even the local U-Haul store who claims Billy-Bob can weld on a trailer hitch for you -- it's too important to get it right. I'd suggest you go to a welding shop that specializes in designing and fabricating structural assemblies. Even a race car fabricator that has designed parachute mounts would be better than some local yahoo with a welder that thinks he's a fabricator. And do it early in the build before you paint as I suspect there will be some significant mods to the FFR chassis to support the use of a trailer hitch.

I was thinking about this today. Can I tow with the truck can I use it to do some light hauling. How big is the bed? I want to be able to haul some tools and supplies around to houses that we are working on. Is that going to be doable?
Before you try and add anything like a hitch, I would get ion touch with the Engineers at FFR to see where the best attachment points would be and their capacity. As the frame is essentially a uni-body design, stressing one area may have negative results later on down the line. At least if you ask the questions they could provide insight of the do's and dont's as well as possible towing capacities. Its too easy to ask.
