Question about Cobb AccessPort tuners
I bought my donor last night ('04 WRX Sedan, 106K miles). In the OBDII port, I found a Cobb-branded dongle (image below). I don't know a bunch about Cobb tuners, but a little searching leads me to believe that this is the interface end of an older AccessPort setup. What I don't have is the other piece, the AccessPort box itself. I've asked the previous owner if they might have it, but it doesn't look great.
So - does the dongle do anything at all without the other box?
If there was an AccessPort on the car at some point, is whatever tune that was last used still active on the car?
Is there any way to figure out what tune might be in place?
Thanks for any help.

1 - No.
2 - More than likely if the previous owner lost the AP then the tune would still be on the vehicle unless the AP was unmarried.
3 - Yes, you'll need a way to pull the ROM. I normally use a tactix cable along with EcuFlash to pull the ROM. Once pulled you can do a cal compare to the stock ROM with RomRaider and check for differences.

Great, thank you for the answer. I have a sneaking feeling that the owner before the one who sold it to me used a useless dongle to pretend there was a Cobb tune on the thing.
I'll keep digging to see what else I can learn about it.
