    Dash wiring questions (3 1/2..)

Preface: Mk4 Roadster with Autometer guages.
I have a big Z-shaped connector with 6 slots and a separate ground wire that is labeled "headlight switch" in the RF wiring harness with no apparent switch to go to. Is this part of the included (yet confusing) wiring that is for the Hot Rod only? If so, it can go away, yes? Does the Volts gauge need ground just like the rest of the small gauges? Also I'm getting the feeling there are some wires that do not end up being used. Is this correct? Sorry if these questions all seem Noob, but that is where i'm at...

Don’t cut off the headlight switch connector, Look at the headlight switch that was provided and the connector you described. They go together.
Not sure about the auto meter gauges wiring.
Based on your setup there will likely be some wires that are not utilized.

Figured part of this out- I am missing the headlight switch- checked the parts catalog and it is not available. Any suggestions?

The switch itself is a widely available ACDelco D1588. Available on Amazon ($25) and probably elsewhere. Although what Factory Five provides is a generic version, it does include the shaft and knob which isn't included when you order the Delco part. This would be an alternative that includes everything, including a connector you don't need. Oh well. https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HL%2D03.
