    Starter Solenoid question

Hi All, I see that many people don’t use the Ford Starter Solenoid, but wire directly to the starter from the battery.

So do you put the three Ron Francis red starter solenoid wires on to the “ignition post” on the starter?
I have the power master XS starter from summit.

Also, dumb question, is the starter on the passenger side of the engine? I haven’t pulled my Gen 1 Coyote out of the crate yet.

    Thanks in advance.

Here is the starter location. I did not install a Coyote so I can not comment on the wiring.

You can drag the three RF wires down to the solenoid on the starter if you want. Some do. But it's not necessary, doesn't look great, and the wires may not be long enough. Some use a power stud on the firewall, like this version from Ron Francis. https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=JB%2D47. Or you can take them to a master disconnect if that's something you're planning. Can also use the firewall connection for your Coyote power. And the Coyote starter is on the RH side as the picture shows.

Side note. You have a Gen 1 Coyote still in the crate? Interesting.

Thanks Edward for the suggestion and advice, always very appreciated. I like the look of that insulated power stud, I may pick up one down at West Marine or order the Ron Francis. What gauge wire would you suggest to the starter?

Yep Gen 1 motor is still in the crate, sometimes life finds a way of getting in the way, thankfully clear skies now though.

The kit supplies 4 gauge cables for the power wires. Many builders use it successfully. Having said that, I've wired my cars with 2 gauge. Plus front mounted battery which keeps the cables a little shorter.
