Rear Brake Line Replacement - Anyone had to do this?

I was taking a page out of Papa's playbook today and putting a metal 'shield' in front the rear brake line as it comes out of the footbox on the bottom to help shield any debris that might want to hit it going down the road, as that bend is pretty vulnerable.

As I was drilling into the footbox, I was thinking how much of a PIA it would be to have to replace a leaking rear brake line that goes through the footbox. Anyone had to do this on a completed car? Talk about ruining your day...!

I know right? I have one compression fitting half way down the run on the rail, so that would give me some relief, but other than that, all pre-cut lengths from the local jobber. If I ever do another one, I'll be a little more emergency proof in the line running.

Yes, to NAZ's bulkhead fittings. Used them and have a break as the brake line comes out of the bottom of the footbox, 90 degree fitting there and a fitting at the top of the box for the front brakes. I will as someone mentioned put a protection plate ahead of that lower fitting.

I ran mine inside the foot box behind the gas pedal then through the floor. It was a pain to install but was thinking of protection from road debris at the time. If it ever fails it will not be fun but these are the challenges that I enjoy and signed up for building this car.
