    Wrecked 2015 GT, good donor?

I have the option the purchase a 2015 Mustang GT. It is wrecked, the drive train looks to be intact. It has the 3.73 rear end with the MT-82 transmission. Is the MT-82 a usable transmission in the MK4. This will be a coyote based build. His asking price is right at $9000 for the whole car.

you can use the engine and trans with some work. Also the IRS parts. Is this the black one on FB market place? you will still need the control pack for the engine. Might be worth it if you can get some money back parting out the rest.

Lots of variables. Obviously mileage and condition are critical to whether it's a good value. That's a Gen 2 Coyote. Unless you're willing to go deep into the factory harness and PCM to make it work (several have tried, some given up) you'll want a Gen 2 control pack. They're still available at around $1600. The MT82 works, but as Mike said, requires some work. Main issues are the shifter is in the wrong location and the driveshaft is different than what Factory Five supplies. You can fab up a shifter relocation if you have the capability. Or FormaCars sells one for about $900. Then you have to decide if the gearing is OK for you. It's a little different than the often used TKO. The 3.73 diff is almost for sure a Torsen setup, which some find desirable. You'll need the diff, knuckles/hubs, and brakes if you want. Those three items often available in salvage for $1000 or less. So yes, there's money to be saved (maybe...) especially if you can recover some cost by selling what's left. But you'll work for it IMO.
