    Rear end

I built a EM cobra in early 90s and used a Lincoln Versie rear end with disc brakes. Are they still in use today?

    Carluv,

The current IRS used is from the 2015 and later Mustang.

I was in the dealerships when the Lincoln Versailles were new. They used a Ford 9 inch with leaf springs and a funky internal drum style parking brake that was problematic even when new. The vast majority were open diffs with miserable (at least as far as performance) gears in the 2.4 to 2.8:1 range. Flange to flange they are about 2 inches wider than our preferred Fox width. Long story short, all of these things make them pretty much useless for our cars. A Fox or pre-1999 SN95 8.8 rear end would make a much better starting point.
