Hey guys just getting ready to start wiring my truck. One question. did most of you bring the front harness thru the tanny tunnel using the supplied grommet. that is cutting a hole in the centre of the tunnel under the dash and feeding the front harness thru it.
I took the same route as Gary. Keep in mind you will have to be very mindful when putting the body on and off. I understand there was an instance of some of the power steering wires being damaged on one build.
I ran the front harness under the LH upper frame rail and through the firewall just above where the upper and lower firewall join. Direct shot from there to the RF panel. I ran the power steering wires on the outside like shown in the manual. But kept them as far back as possible where there's the most body clearance. Plus kept them as flat as possible and also put some Gorilla tape over. Hadn't heard someone damaged the wires in that location. But that's what I was trying to avoid. Just have to be careful to spread the cab enough when taking on and off. Plenty of clearance once in place.

how about the rear harness? How did you guys run that?
Ran it in the corner of the driveshaft tunnel. Then up and to the back. Lots of discussion about running anything in the tunnel. But really didn't see any other good options.

So most everyone puts both the front and rear harness thru the tranny tunnel right up close to the fire wall. then routes them from there? I was thinking of running the rear harness thru a conduit either thru the DS tunnel or under the truck.
So here is my idea for getting the wire bundles from under the dash to their destinations. The left one feeds the rear harness, the center one feeds the lights and horn and the right one feed the alternator and starter. By drilling the 1 1/4” hole then removing a section I can slip the grommets in very easily. And should I need to remove the tranny tunnel the slip right out.

Nice. Not that far along but was thinking something similar. Thanks for the inspiration.
Question: Did you leave the cable harnesses from the back resting on the transmission? Or did you try to hang them up off the transmission in some manner?

Thanks edwardb. Not that far along yet but I was thinking JB weld a couple of clips to the top of the tranny and attach the wire there. That’s why I split the top cover at the shifter ring I can pull off just that part and get at everything. 1ED9EBD0-0F38-4F73-ABED-3443D044FECE.jpg

I used a very similar approach so I could remove the trans tunnel without disturbing the harnesses. The section with the grommet holes stays fastened to the firewall when I remove the trans tunnel. It seems like a viable approach. 54542784-6BAF-4183-B47A-129A14129C6F.jpg2D277C69-3C13-46C9-9F92-BDD672A32E91.jpg[ATTACH=CONFIG]153114
