    Trunk aluminum installation order

The manual is fairly vague on the installation order of the trunk aluminum once the body is on. Can anyone with a Gen 1 recall how they installed theirs?

The manual suggests putting the front wall in before the body goes on, which i've done. Looking at overlaps, it seems the base needs to go in next which is also OK, but then how do I get the sides in so the overlap sits behind the front wall?

    The sides are a PITA.
I cut the lower sections off and then made a butch plate that is behind both pieces to screw everything together.

Yeah the overlaps will tell the story. IIRC I did the sides last but I didn’t rivet anything until the panels were all in place. I did it all with the body on and just had to “wiggle a bit”. Mine is gen1 too but those panels were easier than initially I thought they’d be.. just don’t be shy to wiggle/twist/bend.
