weber carbs or EFI
I really want the Weber carbs on my dream Daytona. One thread said: "Its like dating a Vegas Showgirl...if you can put up with it...its worth it"(!). My father used to have tuned perfectly 6 of them all the time on his cars so with skill and the right equipment I know it can be done. I do really want to make an good effort at passing California smog and hate cars that are always tuned so rich and gas you out of the garage. I know EFI is a slam dunk improvement but I really want to keep the 60's look under the hood. Love the feedback and opinions.

I suggest you go EFI stacks especially in CA. Not sure Webers would pass but what do I know. Webers are cool and look awesome no doubts there but the newest EFI stacks are stunning so I think you go that route. Also keep in mind from what I have read, Webers I understand are great at like full throttle but not so great driving around town. Smarter people will like chime in here than me.
Check a thread by Papa as he just installed EFI stacks.

One of my neighbors bought the Speedmaster system and isn't very happy with it. When he saw my Inglese setup, he was impressed with the quality.
Without any adjustments from the default wizard setup in the Terminator X, my car is running really good. It idles comfortably at 850 rpm and is smooth from idle to cruising with shifts at ~4000 rpm. I'm loading some video to my YouTube channel right now. The video quality is poor, but will let you hear how it's running.

I have opted for Jim Inglese's Weber-style EFI. Looks great. Still in the build process, but have go-karted, and am impressed.
EFI comes with an Engine Control Unit. The whole business of installing an ECU and wiring various sensors can be a little daunting, but this nets real benefits.
I live in Colorado for example, and if I take a vehicle for a half day run over the mountain passes, I'll see 3000' of elevation change. Having owned high-performance carburated cars and motorcycles, having a system that automagically adapts to conditions is nice.

There is no smog "test," per se, in CA to title/register one of these cars. The smog inspection that is part of the registration process basically looks for a closed-loop PCV system and that's about it. So having real Weber carbs vs a stack injection system has no bearing on the ability to register one of these cars in CA. That said, I've heard of people having to fabricate a closed airbox over the stacks in order for it to be considered a "closed PCV system." but that would be the same issue regardless of whether you have Webers or stack injection.

Best thing is to call Jim Ingleese and tell him what you want. He gave me guidance several times on my IDF carbs to get them dialed in. Now they run as good as they look. He will build you either setup.

If you haven't built your engine yet, pick a camshaft with at least 112-114 degrees of Lobe Separation Angle.
It really helps when dealing a lot ease tuning issues on most fuel injection systems if the LSA is in this range.

That depends on exactly what you want. For mine, somewhere between $5,400-$8,000 with installation by a shop near his house in Florida, that being on the high side, going with the vintage weber looking EFI system.
Then again, still toying with a Holley Sniper idea as well.

As with any item, prices can vary over time and parts availability. At the time I ordered, the cost difference for the Weber style EFI was a few hundred dollars more than the standard setup I bought. My total cost of parts ordered from Jim was just over $8k. That included complete intake, Terminator X kit, Holley Ford EV6 injector harness, Dual Sync, CDI box, coil, gaskets, synchrometer, and BBR filters for the stacks.

Those look great. What size stacks are those and estimate of hood clearance (if you know LateApex)?

Mine are 1.25" (as measured from top of Weber body to top of stack). Add ~ 0.5" for the mesh filters. Other filters (if any) may have a different height
My body is off to the paint shop, so unfortunately can't estimate hood clearance.
Another potential interference is the body cowl lip above stack #4. My SBF is sufficiently aft (or mid-engine), such that the cowl overhangs that stack by ~ 1/2". Of course, the cowl edge can be notched if needed. Message here is "Measure carefully before ordering these optional bits". Account also for any engine or body movement under load / use ;-)

Jim strongly recommends using the Terminator X and Dual Sync from Holley. I let Jim provide everything rather than try to pick and choose parts myself. Everything he provided was pretty much plug and play. If you need a fuel pump or other components, he'll ship those as well. His intakes are completely assembled and ready to install out of the box. I went with the standard setup, not the Weber option. The standard setup I have uses Borla throttle bodies.

Jim has different stack sizes to choose from, including "short" horns, which may be what LateApex has.

I went with the Borla stack 500 hp 347 that runs awesome drivability is great ! I got my motor from Prestige Motor sports in NC. I have heard the Webber looking EFI stacks do not have the best drivability at slow speeds. ( this has to do with the location of the injectors) This is why i went with this Borla setup. best of luck
