    Roller lifter type preferences/opinions

Friendly education request here...I'm not that familiar with pushrod V8s...but would like to learn why some builders choose one option over another.

What are some considerations for choosing dog-leg lifter retainers over the link type roller lifters or vice-versa?

I think you mean dog bone retainers. Every ford engine made with roller lifters is going to have the dog bone/spider retaining system. The link lifters are for retro-fitting a flat tappet engine to roller lifters. Some say since they have more mechanical pieces, there’s more chance they may fail. Don’t know if that’s true, but practically every ford 302 block made since 1982 is going to be set up for rollers with dog bone retainers.

Thanks! Yeah...now that you mention it, they look more like doggie bones than legs
I appreciate the education...now if I can just stop asking dumb questions!
